For builders and construction firms

Websites for builders and construction firms

An extension is one of the biggest things a household ever pays for, and people check a builder out properly before they ring. We build you a site that answers their questions and shows you're established, live in 24 hours, then look after it for £99 a month.

What customers look for

What people look for before they ring a builder

Building work is expensive, disruptive and hard to undo, so homeowners and commercial clients do their homework. Your site should make that homework easy.

Work like theirs

People want to read about extensions, lofts and renovations like the one they're planning: what was built, how long it took, what went well.

How you price

Big jobs are quoted after a visit. Spelling out your process (site visit, written quote, payment stages) answers the question everyone has.

Plans and paperwork

Many projects need planning permission or building regulations approval, or fall under permitted development. Say whether you handle drawings, building control and party wall matters, or work with people who do.

Signs you're established

Memberships such as the Federation of Master Builders or TrustMark, your insurance and how long you've been trading, stated plainly and only if true.

Who'll be on site

A short about page with the people who'll actually turn up and run the job.

When you can start

Good builders are booked ahead. Saying when you're taking jobs from stops time-wasting on both sides.

An example page outline

The pages a builder's website needs

Where most builders' sites start. Add the work you're known for and drop what you don't do.

  1. HomeThe kinds of project you take on, the area you cover, and a clear way to ask for a quote.
  2. ExtensionsSingle and double storey, kitchen extensions, typical timelines and what's included.
  3. Loft conversionsDormer, roof-light and hip-to-gable conversions, with the questions people always ask.
  4. RenovationsWhole-house refurbishments, structural work and knock-throughs.
  5. Garage conversionsSmaller projects that bring in steady work between the big jobs.
  6. ProjectsWrite-ups of finished jobs: the brief, the build and how long it took.
  7. How we workSite visit, quote, contract, payment stages, building control and sign-off.
  8. CommercialOnly if you tender for commercial work: the sectors you work in, your accreditations and who to contact.
  9. ContactAn enquiry form with a note asking for the postcode, type of work and rough timescale.

Sample site

A sample builder's site

The shape of the home page we'd build you. The firm here is made up.

  • A headline that says what you build and where.
  • Memberships and insurance in the trust line, only the ones you really have.
  • Your three main project types up front, each with a page of its own.
  • A quote button at the top of every page.
  • When you're booking from, which you can change by chat as the diary fills.
The details

The details that matter for builders

What helps a homeowner, or a contracts manager, pick you. We only show what you tell us is true.

Project write-ups

Each finished job as a short story: what the client wanted, what you built, how long it took. Add a new one by chat whenever a job finishes.

Your process, written down

Site visit, written quote, start date, payment stages, building control sign-off. Clear steps reassure people who are about to spend a lot of money.

Commercial accreditations

If you tender for commercial work, health and safety schemes such as CHAS or Constructionline matter to buyers. A page for commercial clients puts them up front.

Guarantees

If you offer an insurance-backed guarantee or a warranty, explain what it covers and for how long.

Photos

Your site launches with professional photos chosen for building work, plus your own logo.

Built for search

Your site is marked up for search engines with what you do, your phone number, your hours and the areas you cover, in the structured format they read.

Change it by chat

Things builders ask their site to do

No editor and no waiting for a web designer. Type what you want, see a preview of exactly what will change, and tap approve. Nothing goes live until you say so, and any change can be undone.

Beyond the website

Getting more building work from your website

Most building work still comes from recommendations. Your site is where those recommendations go to check you out.

  • Write up every finished job, even briefly.
  • Explain how you price and what happens first, so serious enquiries arrive ready.
  • Link your website from your Google Business Profile.
  • Show real reviews, with your customers' permission.
  • Say when you're booking from, and keep it current.

FAQ

Builders ask us

Can I show photos of my own projects?

Your site launches with professional photos chosen for building work, plus your own logo, which you can upload from your dashboard. Project write-ups can be added any time by chat. If your own project photos are a must, email us before you sign up and we'll tell you exactly what we can do today.

Do you build sites for commercial contractors?

Yes. Upkept suits firms of any size that want a clear, fast site: your services, sectors, accreditations and contact details. Very large sites with tender portals or client logins are outside what we do.

Can the site take quote requests?

Yes. Every site has an enquiry form that comes straight to you, and a call button at the top of every page. We can add a note asking people to include their postcode, the type of work and their timescale.

Will the site explain planning permission?

It can explain how you handle planning, building regulations and party wall matters, in your words. We don't give planning advice ourselves, and your site never claims approvals, memberships or guarantees you don't have.

I already have a website. Can you move it?

Yes. Bring your domain at no extra cost and we'll handle the move. If your old site has content worth keeping, we use it as the starting point.

How much does a website for a builder cost?

Upkept is £99 a month with no setup fee, on a 12-month initial plan, then month to month. Our cost guide compares that with DIY builders and one-off agency builds. Read the website cost guide.
